Our Governance

Appropriate governance plays a huge part in ensuring that the decisions that the County Board of Trustees and the County Leadership Team take are in the best interests of its members, legal and are fair.

The County Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as Charity Trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance, and assurance. Effective trustee governance helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life. For a full description of the role of the Trustee board, please check out this information.

Ahead of the 2026 AGM, the Board of Trustees recommended a change which removed the requirement for Trustees to be nominated as part of specific Scouting Districts, instead creating 6 Trustee roles which can be applied for by anyone, irrelevant of whether you are currently a member of Scouts, or if so, which Dstrict you are from. You can read our open selection process here.

For our 2026 AGM, we are now seeking nominations to fill the following vacancies. Nominations must be received by Friday 5th June 2026 and will be formally agreed at our AGM in July.
