The Outdoor First Aid course is a Level 3 accredited course run over two days by First Aid Academy limited.
The outdoor course deals with issues involved in the long-term care of casualties in a remote setting. The outdoor first aid course includes primary and secondary surveys of a casualty, we also look at first aid equipment and how you may adapt and improvise your own equipment to support your first aid kit.
A lot more emphasis is placed on incident management and relaying information to rescue teams. We assume minimal outdoor equipment is available. There are plenty of opportunities to practice first aid and you need to come dressed for working outside; part of the assessment will be undertaken outside irrespective of the weather.
The course is suitable for leaders looking to lead activities in remote areas eg hill walkiing.
This 2 day (16 hours) course is recognised by the National Governing Bodies such as the Mountain Leader Training, British Canoe Union, British Cycling, British Association of Snowsport Instructors etc.
This is a paid for course and we will only be running one per year as we do not anticipate sufficient number to justify running any more. This course is limited to 12 people and will fill up quickly so do not hesitate to book if you want to attend.
