The overwhelming majority of young people enjoy their Scouting without experiencing abuse or bullying
Our Safeguarding approach is all contained in the yellow card which is about:
- Ensuring that young people are kept safe
- Being a role model to young people
- Behaving appropriately at all times
- Reporting any concerns
All adults in Scouting are required to read, understand and implement the yellow card.
This is what safeguarding awareness training is all about. Helping you to implement the yellow card, and to understanding safeguarding in practice.
The yellow card contains all the vital information volunteers need to know about how to behave and raise a concern. It should be the first port of call in all situations.
The issues facing adult volunteers in keeping young people safe are changing all the time and it is essential that we provide up-to-date training.
It is a requirement for all adults in Scouting to have undertaken ‘approved safeguarding training’ at least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review.
If your training is ready for renewal or you are keen to update your skills why not come along.
