In 2003 2 Explorer Scouts from Blackburn North Unit succesfully completed their Explorer Belt in New Zealand. You too can take part in this expereince of a lifetime. |
Explorer BeltThe Explorer Belt is the challenge of a lifetime, which is open to Explorer Scouts aged over 16 and members of the Scout Network. It is a chance to take part in a ten-day expedition that brings a real understanding of a different country, its people and way of life. The Explorer belt is sometimes described as 'the antidote to the package holiday'. It is designed to help young people develop a real understanding of another country by travelling through that country, completing surprise projects, working as a small team and meeting local people. To complete the Explorer Belt, an Explorer Scout or member of the Scout Network must: Be over 16 years oldPlan and train for an international expedition as part of a small teamTravel to another country and travel through that country over ten daysComplete a self selected major projectComplete about ten smaller projectsKeep a notebook or diary during the expeditionTake part in a debriefing after the expeditionMake a presentation about the expedition http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/6to25/network/badges/explorer-belt.htm Opportunities for Explorer BeltsSAMnet Explorer Belt 2010What: South East Europe Explorer beltWhere: SerbiaWhen: Summer 2010Who: Explorers/Scout Network aged 16 to 25Why: An opportunity to undertake an Explorer Belt in Serbia (and possibly a neighbouring country)Cost: TBAContact: Explorerbelt2009@samnet.org.uk or visit http://www.samnet.org.uk Downloads
