Activities are an essential part of Scouting, whether they are adventurous, energetic, creative or indeed all of these. Many activities may involve an element of risk, but with good training, proper equipment and responsible leadership, these risks can be recognised and minimised in order to provide adventure and excitement for all members of the Movement. |
Archery
Bowley Campsite and Activity Centre offers excellent facilities with both outdoor and indoor ranges available for you to use. By prior arrangement, fully qualified instructors are normally available to put on archery for your Pack, Troop or Unit. Visit the website for further details or telephone the office to book a session on 01254 884551. In addition, almost all clubs in the United Kingdom are able to arrange a course of six introductory lessons, which cover a basic understanding of technique and disciplines for shooting in safety and with relative accuracy. Most courses will be organised and supervised by qualified Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) coaches. Any instruction organised by a GNAS affiliated club that follows recognised procedures is covered by the Society's public liability insurance policy. An average charge of between £15.00 to £20.00 may be levied for the course of six lessons and nearly always includes the use of basic equipment. See links below for local clubs and training providers who can help you qualify as a GNAS coach.
